Collaboration
SMARTS helped to underpin two key research centres focusing on market integrity, Sirca and later the Capital Markets CRC (CMCRC). SMARTS is a founding partner in the CMCRC, and continues to be a member today. In turn, the vast majority of academic research work on market integrity is performed or facilitated by these two research organisations, producing over 90% of academic publications on this topic worldwide. Yet, this is not a purely academic research topic, it is in fact an area that is very close to the practical needs of the markets.
Many exchanges and securities regulators have recognised this and participate in the now highly international ongoing research programme of the CMCRC, often facilitated by SMARTS and its technology.
