SMARTS

Core Modules

The SMARTS Integrity Platform provides the surveillance and market control analysts with the toolkit required to load and process billions of messages per day, and identify undesirable behaviour which triggers alerts. The alerts are managed through a surveillance workflow process which has been fine tuned throughout 40 installations. As part of the workflow the analyst can view interactive graphs of trading to compare the behaviour of the offending participant to the rest of the market, and then drill down to the order book and replay the transactions for any security and any period of time. Reports which provide supporting evidence to investigations can be generated by the system based on the specific parameters that the analyst requires.

ALMAS

Provides intuitive workflow for processing alerts generated by the alerting engine. Analysts take ownership of alerts and progress them through the applicable states until the alert can be closed. ALMAS maintains the full audit history of information recorded against each alert and logs who was responsible for each action and when. Alert histories are available for pattern analysis.

SPREAD

Provides a powerful trading visualisation which presents the time series of trading data for a security graphically. Full trade details are available on the graph as well as various overlays such as VWAP and participants positions. Alerts and information announcements are incorporated into the view to depict the events that explain the market behaviour.

REPLAY

Provides the ability to build and replay the order book for any security on any day. Filters can be set to identify participants of interest, and the history of any order can be retrieved. The user can step through suspicious activity and recreate the events as they occurred.

ARC

Organises the portfolio of report templates designed to provide supporting evidence to investigations, or simple ad hoc queries. ARC allows the analyst to customise the parameters and filter rules for each report, and stores the output either as text files or pdf.

ALDIT

Provides an environment for configuring, or modifying alert rules using our scripting language. ALDIT contains many tools to aid alerts modifications including syntax checking, function help, and the ability to easily run the modified alerts on historical data.
